PURASIL improves rolling resistance and wet traction in tires

Our range of silicas offer high dispersibility and high surface area resulting in an excellent reinforcement potential.

Overview

The high purity silica offered by PCL is used as reinforcing fillers for the rubber industry from tires to shoes soles. We offer multiple particle sizes to cater to our customer’s needs.

PCL range of precipitated silica grades for tires are categorized into three specific areas:

  1. Conventional/ Easy dispersible Silica

  2. HDS – Highly dispersible Precipitated Silica

  3. Dust Free Silica

The strong increase in reinforcement linked with the improvement of the abrasion resistance was the most important aspect for the introduction of carbon black in tire tread formulations. The partial substitute of the Carbon Black by Silica / Silane system in tread compound mixtures, in combination with a specific polymer blend, provides significant improvements in rolling resistance and wet traction. Hence, in comparison to Carbon Black filled tread compounds at constant abrasion resistance level, a reduced fuel consumption and improved driving safety can be achieved.

Advantages
  • Improves fuel efficiency

  • Superior tear and tensile Strength

  • Imparts high abrasion resistance

  • Reduced heat build up

Conventional Silicas

Our conventional silica in use for rubber and tires exceed industry grades like UltraSil VN3 in dispersion, Hg porosity, and surface area and are comparable in DBP oil absorption rates.

Highly Dispersible Silica (HDS)

Our Highly Dispersible Silicas (HDS) are especially developed for application in low rolling resistant passenger car tire tread compounds, so called “Green Tire”. With a specific BET surface area in the range of approximately 155 - 180 m2/g this silica imparts to tread compounds in combination with bi-functional silanes high abrasion resistance combined with excellent rolling resistance and wet traction.
